April 2013 search and rescue incidents

During April 2013 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 68 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 25 people who were despondent.

We were called to 39 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 5 incidents by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 24 incidents.

Sadly during the month 2 bodies were recovered from the cliffs.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Searches and rescues March 2013

During March 2013 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 65 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 22 people who were despondent. A further person was rescued by emergency services as a result of these searches but with no direct dealing by BHCT.

We were called to 38 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 3 incidents by  members of the public and 5 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 19 incidents.

Sadly during the month 3 bodies were recovered from the cliffs.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Search and rescue incidents February 2013

During February 2013 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 60 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 32 people who were despondent. A further person was rescued by emergency services as a result of these searches but with no direct dealing by BHCT. This made January and February 2013 the busiest start to a year we have ever had, a 58% increase on last year and 50% on any previous year to date.

We were called to 29 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 4 incidents by  members of the public and 1 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 24 incidents.

Search and rescue incidents January 2013

During January 2013 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 59 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 22 people who were despondent.

We were called to 34 searches via Sussex Police and 1 via HM Coastguard. We were also alerted to 4 incidents by  members of the public and 2 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 18 incidents.

Searches and rescues December 2012

During December 2012 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 60 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 36 people who were despondent.This made December the busiest month of the year for rescues.

We were called to 22 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 5 incidents by  members of the public and 3 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 30 incidents.

Sadly during the month a body was recovered from the cliffs.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Searches and rescues November 2012

During October 2012 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 76 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 27 people who were despondent. A further person was rescued by emergency services as a result of these searches but with no direct dealing by BHCT. Towards the end of the month we exceeded the 266 rescues performed by the team in 2011 which means that 2012 has already become the 3rd busiest year for rescues since we began operations with a month left to go before the end of the year.

We were called to 43 searches via Sussex Police and 6 via the Coastguard. We were also alerted to 5 incidents by  members of the public and 1 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 21 incidents.

Searches and Rescues October 2012

During October 2012 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 60 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 29 people who were despondent. A further 2 people were rescued by emergency services as a result of these searches but with no direct dealing by BHCT.

We were called to 28 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 10 searches by  members of the public and 4 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 16 incidents.

Searches and Rescues September 2012

During September 2012 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 71 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 32 people who were despondent, making September the second busiest month of the year so far.

We were called to 33 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 7 searches by  members of the public and 4 by pub staff. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 27 incidents.

Sadly during the month there were 3 bodies recovered from the cliffs.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Searches and rescues for August 2012

During August 2012 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 77 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 35 people who were despondent, making August the busiest month of the year so far.

We were called to 37 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 8 searches by  members of the public. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 32 incidents.

Sadly during the month there were 3 bodies recovered from the cliffs.  One of the deaths was witnessed by our team. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

July 2012 – Searches and Rescues

During July 2012 Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team were involved in 71 searches and incidents resulting in the rescue of 23 people who were despondent.

We were called to 47 searches via Sussex Police. We were also alerted to 4 searches by  members of the public. During proactive patrols the team came across a further 20 incidents.

Sadly during the month there were 3 bodies recovered from the cliffs.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
